Moody In-Home Maternity Photos | Intimate Maternity Pictures
Maggie + Landon's in-home maternity session was so incredibly special, both to them and to me. So honored I got to spend time with these two & take their maternity photos!
Maggie + Landon’s story
Maggie + Landon found out they were pregnant with their first baby (boy!) by surprise. Maggie went into the doctor for back surgery, and ended up not being able to get the surgery because hey - she was pregnant!
And to add an extra little special touch to the discovery of their first pregnancy, their anniversary happened to be the day after that. The universe truly knows how to time things just right.
I originally connected with Maggie over Instagram - thank god for social media for bringing me the best connections ever. (Despite the fact that I may despise the ‘gram at times.)
They had just bought a house in Colorado after moving from Hawaii, to be near family for the arrival of their new baby. And boy am I so glad I got to meet these wonderful humans + be in CO at juuust the right time to connect with them.
Maternity portrait + maternity outfit inspiration
These two decided on an in-home session for their maternity photos, for the simplicity + intimacy of it. I’m so damn glad they did.
We spent time in their Colorado home enjoying each other’s company, me watching while they did their thing and rested in this beautiful time of their lives together.
And man did these two cuties know how to look good. Maggie started off in a simple white bra paired with denim jeans, threw on a cute black sweater, and went for an all black tank to complete a black-on-black look with Landon. But it wasn’t over yet - she brought out a cozy white sweater to finish it all off - if you need any more proof that layers are the best way to keep outfits simple but add some variety, idk what else to give you.
Let’s not forget Landon, who rocked simple black looks from the beginning. M + L just go to show that keeping it simple is the way to go with in-home photos - we want you to be your comfiest, most relaxed self in order to create a space for intimacy and love.
My own motherhood journey
Real quick - if you follow me or know me at all, you may be familiar with my own personal motherhood journey. I really value being transparent with my couples and sharing a personal connection with them, so when this shoot was about to take place right after my second miscarriage, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to do it.
I mean, seeing pregnancy announcements is triggering already, but I did it. I photographed maternity again, and I was better. I know what it feels like to lose that pregnancy and I know how to cherish the time you have with your belly, so being able to capture moments that we often take for granted means more to me than anything.
Being able to capture something for other people that is such a gift, such a treasure, is what I want. I want to give photos that treasure a time in your life, and right now maternity is the most special for me. I never got maternity photos, so being able to capture them for others and truly capture the essence of a baby in your belly is where my heart is at. Photographing maternity means truly pouring my heart and soul into every single photograph for my couples.
