Betsy + Shawna's Colorado Elopement in Breckenridge
Betsy + Shawna’s mountain elopement
These two beauties, like lots of other couples in 2020, eloped due to COVID (sounds all too familiar). I know how shitty it was that countless wedding plans got completely thrown out the window because of the pandemic, but I truly do think that it was somewhat of a blessing in disguise for many couples.
Instead of having a large wedding, Betsy + Shawna decided to elope at Sapphire Point Overlook near Breckenridge, just the two of them. And man it was so beautiful.
They got ready together while I photographed their details - they MADE their own invitation suites! So much intention + thought was put into these and they turned out insanely beautifully - you’d never know they were DIY.
After helping each other get in their dresses, they Facetimed Betsy’s dad to show him their elopement looks and it was the sweetest moment to witness. Her dad was wearing a suit & tie during the call and I definitely was hiding in the back, secretly tearing up.
Their ceremony at Sapphire Point Overlook
Once they were ready, we headed to Sapphire Point Overlook, a stunning overlook on Swan Mountain Road, with the most epic views of the Dillon Reservoir & Tenmile/Gore mountain ranges.
Betsy & Shawna tied the knot in front of a gorgeous triangle arbor, standing on a small white blanket to keep their shoes somewhat clean (& feet warm).
Because don’t be fooled by the photos - this was the windiest, coldest day in October ever. And we were all ice cubes. But Betsy + Shawna never ONCE complained.
Their vows were some of the most personal, heartfelt ones I’ve ever heard. And I wasn’t surprised, because these two are some of the most outgoing, loving people I’ve met. My heart is so damn full every time I look through these photos, and I’m so so beyond happy I got to celebrate with these two amazing humans!!
About Sapphire Point Overlook
Sapphire Point Overlook is an amazing spot for elopements in the Breckenridge area! The trail is only 0.6 miles long but can be pretty crowded - which is why winter/fall elopements are the best way to go at this location, even in the cold. It’s an absolutely stunning location for anyone looking to tie the knot in front of the Colorado mountain ranges!
